Ginoong Filipinas Alumni Who Became Bold Stars

I don't claim to have known all the Ginoong Filipinas candidates who jumped into the bold wagon. But I know some. In the not so distant past, joining male pageants was one of the stepping stones to be noticed and be welcomed into the world of showbusiness. It is just regrettable that while our Ginoo winners possessed pleasant faces that could be materials to become matinee idols, they opted to join the skin flicks of their time. Who are they? Here are some of them:

Carmelino “Gandong” Cervantes Jr won Ginoong Filipinas 1993. He was a very charismatic winner that he even went on to place fourth runner up in Mr. Asia Pacific 1993 and was also awarded Mr. Personality. He became one of the lead stars in “Sibak: Midnight Dancers”, a gay-themed movie about male strippers in Manila.

Harold Pineda won Ginoong Filipinas 1998. After his victory, his first movie was Jeffrey Jeturian’s Pila Balde which, luckily for him, enjoyed commercial and critical success in the country and even abroad. The title may literally mean lining up for water but don’t be fooled, because it actually connotes a gang bang – a girl with guys lining up to have sex with her, Harold being one of them. The movie discusses life in the slums. In spite of (or because of) the movie’s roguish sex scenes, it succeeded in exposing the political and social mayhems of the characters, and flourished Harold Pineda’s name in the movies. Since then, Harold appeared in several sex-themed films including Favorite Subject: Sex Education (with Angela Velez), School Frats (also starring Gina Alajar, Isko Moreno and Cherry Pie Picache), Sagad, Masarap Habang Mainit, Alipin ng Tukso and Biglang Liko. He has been called ‘Telag King’ after admitting that his ‘mushroom of love’ reacts on its own whenever he’s doing a sexy scene – something he only laughed at.

Leonardo Litton (Joel Francis Villar) was a finalist of Ginoong Filipinas 1998 when Harold Pineda won the title. He became famous for his nude scenes in almost all of his movies in the 1990's. One of his most daring roles is the Burlesk King where he shared scenes with another Seiko actor Rodel Velayo.

Alvin Asuncion, an angelic hunk won Ginoong Pilipinas 2006 and represented the country at the 2006 Mr. International Pageant held in Singapore where he was one of the semi-finalists and he also bagged the Mr. Photogenic award. He was also one of the 30 finalists in the recently concluded Be Bench Model Search on ABS-CBN Channel 2. He also is one of the lead actor o f indie film "Sikil" (Unspoken Passion) with opposite actor Will Sandejas. And according to movie reviewers, "His performance in the movie was a remarkable one despite being a newcomer."

Kierwin Lozano a.k.a. Fernando Tabuñar Lozano (Caloocan) joined Ginoong Filipinas 2012 and was awarded Ginoong Filipinas – Luzon 2012. He was very good in singing but he ended up acting and was into indie movies. He starred in “Kayod Marino” directed by Direk Lucas Mercado where he had a blow job scene with a woman.
