NATIONAL COSTUME
The
national costume is designed by MIKEE SANGCO. Inspired by the rich culture of
the Igorots. The designer believes that the patterns and fabric used by the
Igorots are both unique; something that we can visually say “Truly Filipino”.
Twisting the design by incorporating, merging and fusing traditional Igorot
culture and modern Philippines in this costume. The traditional “BAHAG”
combined with the over-sized capes and coats of modern society, that may also
be interpreted as royalty is simply a work of art. The designer also believes
that nations should see the richness of the country in natural resources. Thus,
embellishments made of gold, wood, handmade fabric made of indigenous
materials. And of course,in art. The patterns we’re all inspired by the fabric.
The strong colors and combinations of red, yellow, white, green, black and
brown is a harmony perfected with the touch of wood and gold embellishments.
The sphere as a final touch represents our strength. Our will to win any battle
that comes the way of our great nation. It represents superiority.
Mister Golden Universe will be held in Manaus, Brazil
on May 25 to 29, 2016.
