Kiko Matos in under fire these days for being involved
in fistfight with Baron Geisler. TV news usually refers to him as an indie
actor. However, he hugged the limelight via a tv male pageant – the TV
Idol many, many years ago at the afternoon variety Magandang Tanghali
Bayan (MTB) of ABS-CBN.
Of that competition, those who made it to the top 5
are Ahron Villena, AJ Dee, JE Sison, Mark Cortez and Kiko Matos. Of the five,
Kiko was most likely to win because he was very cute, and seemed to have a
stronger connection with the viewing public that time. However, he settled
for the second runner up slot; AJ Dee was first runner up and Ahron Villena
become the ultimate TV Idol. True to his title, Ahron remains visible on tv
until now.
Few years after, a more musled, more masculine Kiko
Matos surfaced at the Mossimo Bikini Summit 2011. He did not win again, but it sure
opened more opportunities for him in the modeling world. He also became an
indie actor where he got to kiss an elder actor and spice up the viewers with
some titillating scenes.
Standing at 5’9, it seems Kiko Matos will no longer
walk on stage as a male pageant candidate. I just hope that he will not be
remembered as “that indie actor.” I prefer to remember him as the cute boy of
MTB.
