Coco Martin-look alike Jhonroy Dela Paz bested 22 other contestants in the recently-concluded Ginoong Antipolo 2014 held at James Ville Resort here on Saturday night, March 29.
Banking on his natural charisma, wit and intelligence, Dela Paz made his way from a not-so strong start to a big win, after a close fight against first runner-up, and equally-gorgeous Maclaren Amberti.
Dela Paz also won Best in Casual Wear, Ginoo With The Best Smile and TransPinay’s Face of the Night, a special award given by the group of transgender Filipinos based in this city.
This blogger, who also served as one of the judges during the final night learned that this is not the first title won by the gorgeous Dela Paz but one of which he considers the biggest, prior to joining the national counterpart of Ginoo in May, Ginoong Filipinas 2014. It would be his first national competition, just in case.
Since he started joining male pageants, he got four titles to date, including Mister and Miss MPC 2013, Mister Pogi ng Tanay 2014, Mister Dudot 2014, and Mister Cosmo Philippines Luzon 2014. Failing to get the titles several times already, Dela Paz still managed to win as a runner-up in several pageants including Mister SCUAA 2013 (Second Runner-Up); Mister Handsome 2014 (First Runner-Up); Mister Bebot in Navotas (Second Runner-Up), Mister Senti (First Runner-Up), and Lakan Ng Maynila (Fourth Runner-Up).
Amberti on the other hand is a first-time pageant entrant. He won two special awards during the night, including Best in Barong and Mister Fresh Salon and Spa.
Completing the list of winners are Lance Felixmena (2nd runner-up), Erwin Reyes (3rd runner-up), Angelo Del Rosario (4th runner-up), and Paolo Magnayon (5th runner-up).
Ginoong Antipolo is a city-wide event, which determines the city’s representative to the upcoming Ginong Filipinas. It was organized by Peping De Guzman’s Events Management.
