Philippines won Mister International
in 2001. 14 years later, we once again claimed this sweet victory. While, Alexander Aquino (Mister International 2001) is of Grasim – Indian franchise,
Neil’s victory is courtesy of Singaporean Mister International franchise. Well,
it’s still the same: Mister International. We won!
Mister International 2001: Philippines Alexander Aquino; First Runner Up: Venezuela Anibal Perez; Second Runner Up: Holland Leroy Vissers |
Alexander Aquino, whose mixed roots are courtesy of a
Spanish-Filipino father and an Irish-Korean mother, grew up in Seattle but went
to Asia (and the Philippines eventually) to
pursue a successful career in modeling. At one time, he was even named one of
the Top 10 Bachelors in the Philippines by Cosmopolitan Magazine. It was here
that he was heralded as the Philippine entry to Mr. International 2001 which he
eventually nailed to the delight of everyone back home.
After that win, Alex spent three more years working as
a fashion and photographic model in the region before he finally decided to
return to the US to try his luck as an actor, while doing some marketing
business with his cousin, Gina. He did land a number of guesting gigs on
American TV in shows like Passions and Half & Half and also appeared in
indie movies (Goldfish, AmerAsian and Great American Dream).
As both a model and a business owner, Alexander Aquino has traveled the globe.
He has also gone to a lot of places off the beaten path. Alexander enjoys the
sense of adventure this type of travel brings, and appreciates the opportunity
to find hidden treasures along the way.
And now,
victory is once again ours! In less than a month after the Mamasapano Massacre,
another police made it to the headlines! Mister Philipines Neil Perez – 25 years old and 179 cm
tall – who hails from Manila won Mister International 2014/2015 in Seoul, South
Korea.
Neil was assigned to the Airport
Security Group (ASG) before winning the national pageant. He also took time off
for training. During his send-off, he
said he was dedicating his victory to the SAF (Special Action Force) 44: ““I am
offering this fight to them, as I condole with their families. I would also
like to thank the [Philippine National Police] for the support they are giving
me in this endeavor outside the force.”
