Let me share to you a glimpse of my Mr. Chinatown Journey.

Last two years ago, as Mr. and Ms. Chinatown 2014 concluded, I made it a point to myself that I would participate in the next Chinatown run. However, I knew for a fact that I couldn't join such a prestigious pageant with my current body frame being too skinny. Since then, I took time to enroll and work out in the gym to build not only my body but also my self-esteem. I worked out every single time with one rather audacious goal in mind, which is to join Mr. and Ms. Chinatown.

Last night, as our Swimsuit Fashion Show ended, I can't help but reminisce the process that it took to be where I am today. I may not be the most ripped candidate on stage but I believe that the goal I instilled in myself two years ago was more than enough for me to confidently ramp in our swimsuit fashion show.

I hope that my story would eventually reach out to many people, not only to inspire others in building their physique but also in other much more important endeavors such as career, studies etc. Anything can be achieved if we commit ourselves to one strong goal.

Mister Chinatown Philippines Winners (2013-2016)

Mister Chinatown Philippines has the aim of promoting awareness among the Filipino Chinese community about the beauty and richness of the Chinese culture and its language.  Co-presented by the Oriental Group and the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Incorporated, the pageant is set to be a month-long journey where all the candidates will compete to represent the excellence of the Chinese-Filipino youth in areas such as leadership, the arts, entrepreneurship and academics. 

Mister Chinatown Philippines started in 2013. There was no pageant in 2015.

MISTER CHINATOWN PHILIPPINES 2016:

Jan Louie is 5’9 and a graduate of Management of Financial Institutions from De La Salle University. He’s a career-driven person who loves to take advantage of all the opportunities that come his way and never shies away from the limelight, especially when it comes to public speaking. A banker by profession, Ngo considers himself a strong advocate of financial literacy and wants to teach the youth about financial freedom. During the question and answer portion, Ngo was asked what he will do if he wins the contest. Ngo answered: “The first thing that I would do is to promote my advocacy that is financial literacy towards the youth. I believe that it is important for us to instill the values of prudence and saving which is in the backbone of us being Chinese to the young ones in order for them to achieve a lot and attain financial freedom. I will do this by creating tie ups with the FFCCCII and various associations of Chinese so that I can teach as early as those in Grade 6 financial literacy.”

MISTER CHINATOWN PHILIPPINES 2014:

Kurt Joshua Ong stands 5’11 and is 19 when he became Mister Chinatown. He was a student from Grace Christian College but also took up BS Interdisciplinary Business Studies in De La Salle University. In joining the pageant, Kurt believed he can deal with different kinds of people. He joined Mr. Chinatown to build his contacts and experience something new in his life. As a car enthusiast, he loves customizing cars and racing. When he was asked by judge Miss International 2013 Bea Rose Santiago about an international figure who he wants to talk with and what he would tell him or her, he answered Justin Bieber. He said that he would tell Bieber to be a good inspiration to others. After the pageant, Kurt appeared in several programs in ABS-CBN and appeared in a movie.

MISTER CHINATOWN PHILIPPINES 2013:

Randy See is 6 feet tall and is an alumnus of St. Jude Catholic School and a student of Business Administration of Ateneo de Manila University. He believes that our greatest enemy is our self and one must strive to stretch  out one’s breaking limit in order to bring out the best bested 15 other male candidates in a night filled with Chinese delights and showcase of Chinoy culture. He also won Best in Active Wear and Best in Formal Wear.
