Country of the Year 2016 is...

With the conclusion of Mister International in Bangkok, I came up with my own version of the COUNTRY OF THE YEAR 2016. This title is given to the country

that is most successful in the male pageants for the year. In the female counterpart, there are the so-called “Big 4” or “Big 5” or “Big 6” – Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss International, Miss Earth, Miss Grand and Miss Supranational.

 There is no such classification, however, in the arena of male pageants. This is due for a fact that male pageants do not really come with a big number of entrants compared to its female counterpart. So, this is how I came up with the COUNTRY OF THE YEAR. I simply count the male pageants with 30 entrants or more. My apologies to the countries who were successful in pageants with 29 candidates or less – you are not counted here.

The Biggest Male Pageant of the Year 2016:

With the conclusion of Mister International in Bangkok,

I made a research about the biggest male pageants

That took place in the year 2016

In terms of number of contestants who participated.

Here are the results:

BIGGEST PAGEANT OF THE YEAR: Mister Universal Ambassador 2016

This pageant has 48 candidates. This is surprising considering that this pageant is just on its second year. Compared to its premier edition, this year was an improvement. The level of candidates was high and results seemed fair. This goes to show that for the year 2017, this is the male pageant to watch out for – a sure threat to all the other male pageants that reigned supreme for years.

First Runner Up: Mister World 2016

This pageant has 46 candidates, which means that Mister World remains one of the most prestigious international pageants in the world. Now on its 9^th edition, how I wish the organizers make this pageant an annual pageant so that it becomes all the more popular.

Second Runner Up: Manhunt International 2016

This pageant has 43 candidates. Despite its loooong hiatus, this pageant remains one of the most anticipated one in the international area. The 2016 pageant was its 17^th edition. I hope that it will not go into another hiatus very, very soon.

Compared to their female counterparts in terms of quality of candidates and production, there are still so many things to be desired in all of the international male pageants. I believe that in the male pageants, there is no clear “Big 3” or “Big 4” or “Big 5” yet. Meaning, it is still anybody’s ballgame.

Indian Actor is Mister World 2016

26 -year-old Rohit Khandelwal of India bested 46 other contestants from around the world and was named Mr World 2016 during the finals held 19th July at the Floral Hall, Southport Convention Center, in Southport, England. Rohit is an actor and TV personality from the Southern Indian city of Hyderabad. Describing himself as a dreamer and believer, he is intent on forging a successful career in front of the camera, but also plans on studying to move behind the camera and make his own films. Aside from his acting, Rohit loves to keep fit, play sports and travel. His favourite cuisine includes indian sweet dish Gulab Jamuns, and Dosa, a south Indian pancake.

Puerto Rico‘s Fernando Alvarez, former Mister International 2015 top 10 finalist placed 2nd place while Mexico‘s Aldo Esparza finished 3rd place. Christopher Bramell of England and Kevin Owiti of Kenya completed the Top 5 finalists.
